Do you think a grad program is a good way to meet new people? I've moved away from all my old friends/relationships, but all of the people in the program seem pretty busy with their own lives. Should I try to branch out to other places or stick to trying to connect with my fellow grad students?
I would definitely continue to put effort into your grad school buddies, but I would also start hanging round community gathering places like coffee shops, weekly comedy/poetry/music/whateva nights, etc. Start frequenting a specific bar or restaurant and make friends with the staff.
