I'm remarkably pro-nap.

Anonymous asked: I just lost my second job in six months to a lousy bout of anxiety. With no income and no health insurance, I get to wait a nice, long time to see a state funded psychiatrist, but the ball is in motion. Do you have any advice for something I can do in the meantime? I already owe my roommate $700 from the last time I was unemployed. I am an artist, but I'm not good enough to sell my work for any real value--definitely not enough to pay any bills.

Well first you’ve got to make sure you are permitted to be employed during this time. Talk to your state-assigned caseworker or agent about options. You don’t want to endanger your chance of getting the disability funding that I assume would enable you to see this psychiatrist. There are definitely off-the-books things you can do for cash, but I’m loath to suggest any without knowing your situation better. My recommendation is to do further research on the implications of taking a job.
