As soon as I turned 40 all the pressure seemed to drain out of my life. I stopped being anxious (particularly about relationships), just seem to be floating along. It's not depression, it's just detachment. I've checked with the Dalai Lama and I don't think I'm about to reach enlightenment. Ironically, the new detachment is a little stressful. Did your grandparents have a similar experience as they hit 40? (on a side note, don't let Los Angeles get to you, because you're really fantastic).
